22.02.2006 , Skype Enables 10-Way VoIP Conference Calls
The eBay-owned online VoIP giant, Skype, has unveiled the first major accomplishment of its partnership with Intel, the ability for Skype users to conduct 10-way conference calls over the internet.
This and future developments of the partnership will attempt to harness Intel’s latest dual-core processors to increasingly integrate Skype “into the fabric of everyday personal computer usage.”
As for the next big step in achieving this goal, it will likely be geared towards users of Macintosh computers. A version of Skype 2.0 is currently being planned for OSX operating systems, and is especially relevant now that Intel chips have been integrated into the latest iMacs and MacBookPro laptops.
In the future, the companies will be working together to ensure that Skype 2.0 and future releases will make the fastest and most efficient use of Intel’s high-powered Core Duo processors.
